Session I: Pastoral and Spiritual Leadership

The first session of the Gearing Up To Be a Pastor program focuses on pastoral and leadership skills. Here is a sample schedule of the four-day workshop at Saint Meinrad.

2:30 – 4:30 pm: Check-in, free time
5:00 pm: Evening Prayer with the monks (optional)
5:30 pm: Social & Dinner
7:30 – 7:45 pm: Welcome and Orientation
7:45 – 8:45 pm: Program Session: On Being a Public Person

Day Two

8:00 am: Morning Prayer with seminarians (optional)
8:30 am: Breakfast
9:00 am: Spiritual Direction, Counseling, Reconciliation
10:00 – 11:15 am Program Session: Being a Pastor: The Priestly Arts of a Spiritual Leader
11:30 am: Mass with seminarians
Noon: Lunch with seminarians
1:00 – 3:30 pm Personal time
3:30 – 4:45 pm Program Session: Being a Pastor: David and Moses as Models of Spiritual Leadership
5:00 pm: Evening Prayer with the monks (optional)
5:30 pm: Social
6:00 pm: Dinner
6:30 pm: Eucharistic Adoration with seminarians (optional)
7:30 – 8:30 pm: Program Session: Spiritual Leadership

5:00 pm: Evening Prayer with monks (optional)
5:30 pm: Social

7:00 – 8:15 pm: Program Session: Shared Ministry: Leading, Empowering & Coaching Others
8:30 pm: Movie and Discussion

Day Four

7:30 am: Concelebrated Monastery Mass (optional)
8:00 am: Breakfast
8:30 – 10:00 am: Homily Prep for 26th Sunday Ordinary Time (optional)
10:30 am: Announcements/Wrap-up
10:45 am – Noon: Program Session: Simple Cooking – Entertaining at the Rectory
Noon: Lunch (optional)
